Research Interests
My current research focuses on four closely connected areas:
Extreme heat & dynamic exposure
Measuring how heat and humid heat vary across the places and times people actually experience during commuting, outdoor work and everyday activity.
Urban climate · Dynamic exposure · Thermal comfort
Mobility & behavioural adaptation
Understanding how residents modify destinations, routes, activity timing and travel choices in response to extreme weather and unequal urban conditions.
Human mobility · Activity patterns · Travel behaviour
Health risk & environmental equity
Connecting environmental exposure with acute health risks and the unequal experiences of older adults, outdoor workers and other vulnerable groups.
Health geography · Vulnerability · Environmental justice
Cooling infrastructure & GeoAI
Using spatial data science to evaluate shade, street trees, blue-green infrastructure and public facilities, and to support climate-responsive planning.
GeoAI · Cooling interventions · Planning support
Research Projects
NERC · Researcher Co-Lead
Joined-up Landscapes
A transdisciplinary programme examining how nature-based solutions can support climate adaptation, sustainable food systems and resilient landscapes across the UK.

Empowering Resilience in a Sinking City
Spatial analytics, flood-risk modelling and decision support developed with communities and interdisciplinary partners in Jakarta.
Open data & urban resilience
Colouring Indonesia
